It’s no secret that times have been challenging lately. Whenever I notice fear and complaining creeping in, I am reminded of a quote my mom used to tell me “If you want to get out of the pit of despair, climb up the ladder of thankfulness”. I came up with a list of reasons to be thankful, and I thought I would share it with you. I encourage you to make a list as well and share it with someone, or post it in the comments below!
Here are my reasons to be Thankful, in no particular order: Spring flowers blooming all around. More time to do cooking, gardening and cleaning. Riding bikes in an empty parking lot. Listening to howling at 8pm, in gratitude to those working on the front lines(we have a neighbor that hits a Gong). More time to go on walks. Technology that allows us to have virtual church, virtual meetings, and virtual visits with friends and family . Fresh air and clean water. A warm bed to sleep in. Quiet mornings with a cup of coffee. The ability to pull up my favorite song on YouTube when I want to listen to it. Enough toilet paper. Neighbors that are available to lend a helping hand.
People that say "hi" when you walk by them (6 feet apart, of course).
Signs in my neighborhood that say "Kindness is also contagious".
Clorox Wipes and Hand Sanitizer. Berries with yogurt. Brownies.
Eggs on Toast.
Watching my daughter enjoy making Pancakes.
Dishes to wash.
Clean laundry even though it takes forever to fold and put away. Friends that call to say hi. God who hears my prayers. New mercies every morning. The promise that God works all things together for good (Romans 8:28).
