Morning Tea Time: You are Loved, You are Enough

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

The pace of modern life is busy. We've always got places to go and things to do. Between work and family life, I know I'm usually rushing from one activity to another. Sometimes when we hurry about our daily lives at a frantic pace, our "busyness" defines who we are at any given moment. When are forced to slow down - like with this shelter-in-place order - we feel untethered.

Yet, slowing down and sitting still on purpose is actually really important work.

For me, sitting still during my morning tea meditation and prayer time is one way I stay calm and centered during difficult times (go here for more information).

Sometimes it is a challenge to keep up a regular prayer or meditation practice. Not only does the busyness of life get in the way - WE get in the way with restlessness or impatience with the process: what good does just sitting still do?

When we sit still on purpose we practice living in the knowledge that

we are enough as we are and that we are loved.

The Apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the church in Ephesus, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God - not the result of works, so that no one may boast (Eph. 2:8-9)."

God's love is a free gift of grace. We don't earn it, no matter how busy we are or how important our work is. When we sit still, we are acknowledging God's free gift to us.

In this moment: you are enough. You are loved.
