In this morning's video, I reflect on whether it is possible for doubt and faith to coexist. This is part of a series of videos I've been doing during shelter in place that relate to my super simple daily prayer practice.
One thing that I didn't mention in the video is that the word for "to believe" in the biblical Greek is "pisteuo" which can mean to faithfully entrust oneself or to place confidence in.
Belief is more than intellectual assent to an idea; belief is about where we put our trust.
The scripture verses I reference are Mark 9:14-29.
I never realized that belief or unbelief is not necessary to my faith journey. God is in charge. I noticed in the Mark passage that Jesus answered his disciples with, "This kind [of spirit] can only come out through prayer (and fasting)" This prompts me to prayer more steadily, and try fasting.
