This morning I reflect on "Star Wars Day" (May the Fourth, get it?) and a hidden benefit of remembering the Sabbath on these days when we might all lose track of time.
This post is the seventh in a series of morning tea time videos I've made for our time under stay-at-home orders. You can find them all here (here's a link to the first one, too).
If you'd like to catch up on Sunday worship with our church, you can visit our online worship page here.
You can find my previous sermon on the Sabbath that I reference at this link.
Finally, the Scripture verse from this morning's video is:
Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work. But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and consecrated it.
Exodus 20:8-11
And PS: If you're curious about why we count time the way we do, origins of the days of the week, the calendar, etc., check out this article from "Today I Found Out." It's really fascinating. Did you know that the Romans had an eight day week with one day devoted to shopping?
